Wylene Strickland Herndon

Wylene Herndon passed away September 30, 2018 at Hospice LaGrange, after years of declining health. She is survived by her husband, William J. Herndon; children, Cornelius (Pam) Herndon, Cindy Bailey, Tim (Missy) Herndon and Chad (Tisa) Herndon; grandchildren, Kristy (Kevin) Reynolds, Steven (Heather) Herndon, Wil (Crystal) Bailey, Dustin Herndon, Haley (Craig) Smith, Kirstin (Jordon) Carnes, Madison Carnes and Blakely Herndon; great-grandchildren, Kelly Carlisle, Kimberly Reynolds, John Herndon, Anna Herndon, Noah Herndon, William Bailey, Jr., Lillie Bailey, Emma Bailey, Abby Bailey, Avery Bailey, and Braydon Lasater. She is preceded in death by her mother, Louise Strickland; father, Lonnie Strickland; sisters, Sybil Gaddy, Irene Johnson and Sara Bugg; brothers, Randall Strickland and Henry Strickland; and granddaughter, Celia Bailey Knight. Wylene was retired from LaGrange College and was a member of Grace Baptist Church. She was a wedding caterer, seamstress, crafter and amateur horticulturist. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 3, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home. Rev. Randall Dunlap and Rev. Donnie Benefield will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Tuesday night. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
