Mrs. Winona Davis Horne, 94, of Columbus and formerly of Marietta, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at The Gardens of Calvary Assisted Living in Columbus.
Mrs. Horne was born October 21, 1923, in Fulton County, daughter of the late Robert and Evelyn Lynn Davis. She retired as a telephone operator from AT&T, was a talented artist and loved gardening, especially tending to her flowers and feeding the birds. She had a long and happy marriage to Robert Horne and they were totally dedicated to each other. Following her husband's death, she developed a love for travel and adventure, which included visiting four continents, sky-diving at age 80, flying in a hot-air balloon at age 85, and riding a motorcycle at age 90.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Middleton of Villa Rica; daughter in-law, Yvonne Horne of Columbus; sisters, Patricia Elise Esparza and Anita Paden; brother, Steve Davis of Woodstock; grandchildren, Jay Middleton of Hogansville, Susan Madden of Villa Rica, Wayne Horne of Columbus, Eric Horne of Pensacola, FL, Darlene Goben of Bonner Springs, KS; 11 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert Roland Horne, Jr.
