Mr. Wilson L. St. Clair, 76, of Hogansville, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2020, at Hospice LaGrange.
Mr. St. Clair was born February 13, 1944, in Covington, VA, son of the late W. W. St. Clair and Dorothy Wood St. Clair. A resident of Hogansville most of his life, he served as Chief of the Hogansville Fire Department for more than 25 years and then served as Assistant Chief of the Troup County Fire Department after the Hogansville department merged with the county department.
He was Baptist by faith, was a member of the Hogansville Masonic Lodge, was a past president of the Hogansville Jaycees, and was a former member of the Hogansville Kiwanis Club and the Hogansville Optimist Club. He served several terms as a member of the Hogansville Board of Education and served two terms as Mayor of Hogansville from 1998 until 2006. For many years, Mr. St. Clair served as a referee for high school and college football and baseball, and also served as a Little League football coach.
Survivors include his son, Wilson L. "Bubba" St. Clair, Jr. and his wife Meadow of LaGrange; sister and brother in-law, Scarlett and Earl J. Hanners, Jr. of Brooks; brother, Gerald St. Clair of Franklin; grandchildren, Taylor St. Clair, Wilson L. "Tripp" St. Clair III, Mallory and Vincent Rapoza, Emily and Caleb Vines, Barrett Tucker; and great-granddaughter, Rory Rapoza. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Susan Lynn St. Clair, and his sister, Crystal St. Clair.
A funeral service for immediate family will be conducted Sunday, April 26, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend John Evans will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.
Friends may visit the funeral home to view and to sign the guest register between the hours of 3 and 6 Saturday afternoon. Only a limited number of people will be allowed in the funeral home at one time.
