Mr. William A. "Pete" Turner, 76, of Newnan, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.
Mr. Turner was born February 22, 1947, in Newnan, son of the late William Henry Turner and Mary Newman Turner. A veteran of service in the U.S. Army, he was a member of Grace Baptist Church, was employed for many years by Georgia Natural Gas and by the Coweta Board of Education, and also worked as a building contractor. He loved everyone, especially his family, and would help anyone in need and not accept payment.
Survivors include his daughter, LeAnn Maxwell and her husband Doug Maxwell of Hogansville; son, Mat Turner of Newnan; step-sons, Tyler Turner and Jeremy Turner and his wife Stephanie Turner, all of Newnan; grandchildren, Alison Turner Beaver and her husband Jason Beaver, Madison Geter and her husband Cade Geter, Carman Maxwell, and Zach Turner; a great-granddaughter; sister, Angie Bishop of Birmingham, AL; and a brother, Mike Turner of Newnan; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 22, at the graveside in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan, with the Reverend Jimmy Lester officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 21.
