William Alvin “Will” Smith III, born November 20, 1973, in Newnan, Georgia, passed away peacefully on the evening of April 3, 2026, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville Tennessee.
Will lived a life full of love and was a devoted son, brother, uncle, family member, and friend. He loved fiercely and loyally, and those who knew him were deeply impacted by his steady presence, kind heart, and unwavering care for others. He found joy in the simple things—watching reruns of Dallas, golf and college football, listening to old country music, and building his collection of cowboy boots, which reflected his personality and style. More than anything, Will had a special love for the Lord, and his faith was a guiding light throughout his life.
Survivors include his mother, Sherry Smith of Maryville, TN; sister, Kristy Smith Stott and brother in-law, Cole Stott, also of Maryville; nephews, Mason Stott and Maddox Stott; and a number of loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his loving father, William A. “Billy” Smith, Jr.; grandparents, Malcolm P. “Junior” and Betty Spradlin Smith and William A. “Bill” and Betty Houston Smith.
Will will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. While our hearts ache in his absence, we find peace in knowing that he is now whole—walking, running, skipping, and jumping in heaven—resting in the arms of Jesus and finally at peace.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, April 6, at the graveside in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville, with Tyrone Montgomery and Cole Stott officiating.
The family will greet friends at the graveside.
