MR. BILL SATTERFIELD
Mr. William Benjamin (Bill) Satterfield, 87, of McDonough, died Monday, January 14, 2013, at his home.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 17, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Roseanna Brannon will officiate and interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan, with military honors.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Thursday.
Mr. Satterfield was born March 16, 1925, in Dahlonega, son of the late Grover and Bessie Cleveland Satterfield. A U. S. Marine Corps veteran of World War Two, he served in the Pacific Theater and was involved in action on Iwo Jima. He retired as a warehouseman from Outboard Marine Corp., was a longtime resident of Riverdale, and lived in Gainesville for six years before making his home in McDonough in 2007.
Survivors include his daughters and sons in-law, Leigh Ann and Lee Peek of Fayetteville, June and Mike McKerrocher of Bull's Gap, TN; son, Mike Satterfield of McDonough; brothers and sister in-law, Tom and Linda Satterfield of Atlanta, Charles Satterfield of Dahlonega; eleven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ginny Rainey Satterfield.
