Mr. William Henry "Bill" Leverett, 86 of Moreland, passed away Saturday July 30, 2022, at his home.
Born August 29, 1935 in Gay, Mr. Leverett was the son of the late James Edward Leverett and Mamie Estelle Moore Leverett. He was a longtime resident of Greenville before making his home in Moreland and was a member and deacon of Greenville Baptist Church. Mr. Leverett retired from Durand-Wayland as Vice President of Manufacturing where he helped develop and patent fruit machinery that is still used globally today.
Survivors include his daughters, Leslie Bailey Parkerson and Linda Lee Gasses and her husband Cy Gasses, all of Greenville; grandchildren, James Leverett Bailey, William Zachary Bailey, Anna Gasses Coleman (Aaron), Rachel Gasses Williford (Cody), and Art Gasses (Kelli); and great-grandchildren, Sophia Coleman, Ruby Williford, and Griffin Gasses.
Mr. Leverett was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Billie Sue Stricklin Leverett who passed away in October, 2021; his grandson, Joshua Livingston Bailey who passed away in April, 2021; and by his great-granddaughter, Charleston Kate Gasses.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 2, at the graveside in the Greenville Cemetery with the Reverend Jonathan Porter officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Greenville Baptist Church.
