MR. WILLIAM E. (BILL) SMITH Mr. William E. (Bill) Smith, 75, of LaGrange, died Monday, April 23, 2012, at West Georgia Medical Center. The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 26, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, with interment in Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Wednesday night. Mr. Smith was born July 17, 1936, in Marshall County, Alabama, son of the late Ernest and Willie Lee Martin Smith. A veteran of service in the U. S. Army, he lived in LaGrange for many years, was a member of the Baptist faith and was a retired flooring installer. Survivors include his wife, Mary Perkins Smith of LaGrange; daughters, Kim Harrell of Murray, KY and Susan Yates of Calhoun; step-son, Mike Ross of LaGrange; sisters, Linda Mikel and Vicki Wagnon, both of Albertville, AL, and Evelyn Lacey of Boaz, AL; brothers, Stanley Smith of Albertville and Bobby Smith of Jacksonville, FL; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, William A. (Tony) Smith. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
