Willard Luther Lewis

Willard Luther Lewis, 94, of Tolland, CT, filed his final flight plan on Wednesday, February 1, 2023.

Born May 10, 1928, in LaGrange, GA, he was the third child of the late George G. and Irene Granger Lewis. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1944 until 1968, served overseas in World War Two, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, and medically retired in 1968 for injuries received during his service career. During World War Two, he served in China, Burma, and the India Theater of operations, and was extremely proud to be associated with so many heroes of the hard and dangerous campaigns in Asia. He was a past National Commander of the CBI Veterans Association, was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Association, National Association for Uniformed Services, the American Military Society, and WWII Memorial Association. He was a licensed pilot and his love of flying knew no bounds.

Survivors include his children, Christine Irene Senyko and her husband Ronald of Glennie MI, Robert Edward Lewis and his wife Maureen of Cheektowaga, NY, William James Lewis of Council Bluffs, IA; sisters, Reba Jones and Betty Norris of Chatsworth, GA; brother, Jimmy Lewis of Warner Robins, GA; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Makowsky Lewis; brothers, William G. Lewis, Ralph A. Lewis; and sisters, Mary G. Lewis and Emma Jean Haynes.

Funeral services with full military honors will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 24, at the graveside in Hillview East Cemetery in LaGrange, GA.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 23.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Kidney Foundation or American Diabetes Association.
