MR. WILBUR J. McCOY
Mr. Wilbur J. McCoy, 95, of the Rocky Mount Community of Meriwether County and affectionately known as "Uncle Bud", died Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at his home.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 28, at Bethel Baptist Church in Rocky Mount. The Reverend Bobby Boswell will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Wednesday night.
Mr. McCoy was born April 27, 1917, in Meriwether County, son of the late John Jackson McCoy and Elizabeth Cook McCoy. A lifelong resident of Rocky Mount, he was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, was a retired painting contractor, and also worked for a number of years for Meriwether County.
Survivors include his daughters and sons in-law, Becky and Charles Bryan of Greenville, Beth and Ron Gay of Bowdon; sons and daughter in-law, Alfred J. (Buster) and Tressa McCoy and Bryan McCoy, of Rocky Mount, Bruce McCoy of Woodbury; sisters, Doris Garner of Rocky Mount, Kitty Smith of Moreland, Eleanor Garner and Gwen Gradolph, both of Fayetteville; brother, Nelson McCoy of Rocky Mount; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Helen Washington McCoy; his son, Barry McCoy; and a grandson, Jonathan.
Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
