MR. WELBORN ASKEW
Mr. Welborn Askew, 72, of Piedmont, Alabama and formerly of Luthersville, died Thursday, July 30, 2009, at Cherokee Baptist Hospital in Centre, Alabama.
The funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, August 1, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Jody Mitchell will officiate and interment will be in the Luthersville Cemetery.
Born June 1, 1937, in Meriwether County, Mr. Askew was the son of the late William Jasper (Jack) Askew and the late Elmira Siebe Askew. He lived in Luthersville before making his home in Piedmont twenty years ago and retired after owning and operating a grocery store.
Survivors include his wife, Sara Ball Askew of Piedmont; daughters, Carol Sheppard and Rhonda Holcombe, both of Piedmont, and Donna Bennett of Newnan; sons, Clay Askew of Piedmont, Jacky Askew, Jeff Askew and Craig Askew, all of Atlanta; step-son, Ronald Samuel Crain of Hogansville; sister, Jacqueline Bowden of Luthersville; 28 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.

Services: 4:00 p.m., Saturday, August 1st, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home
Interment: Luthersville Cemetery
