MR. WALTER PURGASON
Mr. Walter Purgason, 87, of the Corinth Community, died Sunday, December 6, 2009, at Hospice LaGrange.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 8, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Milton Hall will officiate and interment will be in the Corinth Cemetery.
Mr. Purgason was born June 5, 1922, in Heard County, son of the late Earnest and Callie Gaddy Purgason. A veteran of service in the Pacific Theater in the U. S. Navy during World War Two, he lived in Corinth most of his life and was a member of Corinth Baptist Church. He was a retired building contractor and was an avid gardener.
Survivors include his wife, Sara Hammett Purgason; daughter, Patti Purgason; sister, Mary Haynes, all of Corinth; two grandsons, Alex McCurdy of Corinth and Ben and Mandi McCurdy of Hogansville; a great-grandson, Austin; and several nieces and nephews.
Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
