Walter Eugene Masdon

Mr. Eugene Masdon, 73, of Grantville, passed away Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Hospice LaGrange. Mr. Masdon was born March 8, 1948, in Hogansville, son of the late Roger and Hazel Morris Masdon. A 1967 graduate of Hogansville High School, he served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War and retired from Nestle Purina in Fairburn after thirty years of service. He loved to hunt and fish with his lifelong best friend, Thomas Rogers, and enjoyed watching NASCAR races. Survivors include his wife, Cathy Masdon of Grantville; daughters, Stacie Griffin and her husband Blake Griffin of Grantville, Kristi O'Loughlin of Hogansville; grandchildren, Cody Griffin, Courtney Griffin, Brianna Johnson, Cameisha Masdon, Alicia Masdon, Maekenzie O'Loughlin, Chase Bushman, Bryce Bushman, Landon Bushman; great-grandchildren, Amia, Angel, Jayce. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Nicole "Nikki" Masdon; and his sisters, Virginia Masdon Boswell and Carol Masdon Howard. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 5, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, with military honors. The Reverend Barney Howard and Dr. Tommy McLeroy will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Monday night. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
