Mrs. Violet Marie "Pat" Elder, 73, of Hogansville, passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at her home.
Mrs. Elder was born February 14, 1945, in Hogansville, daughter of the late Arnold and Gladys Fuller Lancaster. A lifelong resident of the Hogansville area, she assisted her husband in the operation of Elder's Grocery in Hogansville for many years and then owned and operated Precious Hearts Day Care Center in Luthersville until her retirement. She was Baptist by faith and was a loving grandmother, affectionately known by everyone as MawMaw Pat, who loved being entertained by her grandchildren and their friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Vickie Elder of Grantville; son, Vince Elder of Hogansville; brother, Johnny Lancaster, also of Hogansville; and grandchildren, Brannon Jackson and his wife Rebecca, Braxton Tucker, Bre'Zhay Tucker, Bravian Elder, Bryston Elder. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Elder.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 20, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Jody Mitchell will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Friday night.
