Mrs. Vernie Miller Shelnutt, 69, of Grantville, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2021, at her home.
Mrs. Shelnutt was born April 1, 1952, in Grantville, daughter of the late Cordie Teal Miller and the late Aaron Miller. A lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Grantville, she had served as a member of the Administrative Board and as chairman of the Board of Trustees. When the Grantville church was closed, she transferred her membership to the Palmetto First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed the ocean and visiting the beach, loved all children and had served as a nanny for a number of families.
Survivors include her daughter, Carol Brown Neill; son, Charlie Brown; sister, Carolyn Jenkins; grandchildren, Mallory Neill Allen and her husband Shane, and Stevie Neill; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, June 27, at the former First United Methodist Church of Grantville, with the Reverend Ron Capes officiating.
The family will receive friends at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, June 26.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Palmetto First United Methodist Church, 504 Church St., Palmetto, GA 30268.
