V. Lamar Bruce

MR. LAMAR BRUCE Mr. V. Lamar Bruce, 69, of Greenville, died Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 10, at the graveside in Fairview Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge, with the Reverend Joe Hughes officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 until 8 Thursday night. Mr. Bruce was born May 17, 1942, in Atlanta, son of the late James Lee Bruce and Claudia Burch Bruce. A veteran of service in the U. S. Army, he lived in McDonough before making his home in Greenville 27 years ago and was a retired truck driver. Survivors include his daughters and son in-law, Tracey and John Schendel and Kathy Schendel, all of Greenville; three grandchildren, Tim Schendel of Lester Prarie, MN, Heather Schendel of Cloquet, MN and Joshua Bruce of Greenville; great-grandson, Brennen Wohtwend of Cloquet; sisters and brothers, Mary Lee Bruce, Bill Bruce, Leon Bruce, Hank Bruce, Tommy Bruce, Gloria Vaughn, and Ricky Bruce; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Barnes Bruce; and sons, James Lamar Bruce and Larry Scott Bruce. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
