MR. ULVERT O. CANADA
Mr. Ulvert O. Canada, 87, of Grantville, died Friday, December 31, 2010, at his home.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, January 2, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Jimmy Evans will officiate and interment will be in the Grantville Cemetery, with military honors.
Mr. Canada was born June 10, 1923, in Saulsville, West Virginia, son of the late Flem and Charlotte Tilley Canada. An Air Force veteran of World War Two, he was a retired coal miner and possessed an entrepreneurial spirit, as he established and operated a number of businesses over the years. He enjoyed writing poetry, was an avid outdoorsman, had lived at Grantville for 29 years, and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Blanche Canada of Grantville; daughters and sons in-law, Drema and Mike McCoy of Griffin, Kathy and Bill McCurley of Newnan, Jane and Tommy Keith of Blairsville, and Brenda Lea and William Mitchell of Pine Mountain Valley; thirteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
