Tony Tucker

October 4, 1956 — August 21, 2020

Mr. Tony Tucker, 63, of Grantville, passed away Friday, August 21, 2020, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital of complications of COVID-19. Mr. Tucker was born October 4, 1956 in LaGrange, was a 1974 graduate of Hogansville High School, and had lived in Coweta County most of his life. He owned and operated Tucker Merchandise, had been in business in Grantville for 45 years, and was known by many over a wide area. He loved his family and enjoyed having family gatherings. He also enjoyed being outside, bushhogging, working in his garden, kayaking, and spending time at the river. Tony cared deeply for his customers, enjoyed talking to and getting to know everyone, and would assist anyone in need. Baptist by faith, he began his day with Bible study, ended each day listening to gospel music, and loved to download and make gospel CD's to give to his friends and customers. Survivors include his wife, Ann Tucker; his children, Greg (Tracey) Townsend, Kyle (Jade) Tucker, LeAnn (Alan) Wacaser; father, Billy Tucker; brothers, Scott (Cindy) Tucker, all of Grantville, Chris (Elaine) Tucker of Hogansville; grandchildren, Taylor, Brooke, Cassie, Jordon, Jamie, Clancey, Gus, Tucker, Owen, Brant; four great-grandchildren; and his fur-babies, Sadie, Dolly, and Rivercat. He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Tucker; brother, Marlon Tucker; and mother in-law, Wilma Brown. Friends may visit the funeral home for viewing and to sign the guest register between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Sunday, August 23. Due to the COVID-19 health crisis, the family will hold a private funeral service with interment in the Grantville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Piedmont Health Foundation to assist COVID-19 caregivers and patients. The family expresses sincere appreciation to the medical staff, nurses, technicians, caregivers, and staff at Piedmont Newnan Hospital for their dedicated care of Tony. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
