Tony Rosser

Mr. Tony Rosser, 79, of Moreland, passed away suddenly Thursday, October 31, 2024, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.

Anthony Lawrence Rosser was born December 10, 1944, in Greenville, and was the second son of the late John Thomas (J.T.) Rosser, Jr. and Emily Rowe Rosser. A 1963 graduate of Newnan High School, he was drafted into the Army in September, 1965 and honorably discharged in August, 1967, after serving in Germany.

He was employed by C & S Bank in Newnan, the Bank of Forest Park and then at the bank in Luthersville until his retirement in 2007. During his tenure in Luthersville, the bank went through a number of name and ownership changes from First American Bank, Synovus Bank, Bank of Upson, and Meriwether Bank and Trust.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Thomas Rosser III; and his father in-law and mother in-law, Johnnie and Norma York.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia York Rosser of Moreland, and their cat, Tom-Tom; When asked how long they had been married, they would laugh and say 31 years "this time," as they were married for 10 years, divorced for 14 years, and then re-married for 31 years. Other survivors include his brothers and sisters in-law, Kenneth and Gail Rosser, Michael and Susan Rosser; nieces and nephews, Tammy Dennison, Lisa McGurl, Leah Crawford, Tammy Rosser, J.J. Rosser, Christopher Rosser, Kelly Rosser. Also surviving are Patricia's brothers, Alvin York and Gwendolyn York Carr; and nieces and nephews, Sherry York, Henry York, Justin Anderson, and Cody Anderson.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 2, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Winston Skinner will officiate and interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, or to a favorite charity.
