Thomas Pace (Tom) Strickland, Jr.

THOMAS P. STRICKLAND, JR. Mr. Thomas Pace (Tom) Strickland, Jr., 83, of LaGrange, died Friday, March 4, 2011, at his home. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 7, at the graveside in Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange, with the Reverend Chuck Redmond, the Reverend Dwayne Perdue, and the Reverend Joel Chapman officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Sunday evening and will be at his home at other times. Born December 27, 1927, in Meriwether County, Mr. Strickland was the son of the late Thomas Pace Strickland and the late Maidee Hall Strickland. He was a lifelong resident of Troup County and was Baptist by faith. He was a self-employed timber owner, producer and manager and he found great enjoyment in working with timber and land. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Bernice Cook Strickland; daughter, Ellen Parmer and her husband, Keith; sons, Thomas Pace Strickland III and his wife, Virginia, and John Reed Strickland and his fiancee, Dede Lesley, all of LaGrange; sister, Tommie Lou Strickland of Atlanta; brother and sister in-law, James and Sue Strickland of Pine Mountain; four grandchildren, Chase Parmer, Beth Parmer, Travis and Natalie Strickland and Jason and Ashley Strickland; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Maidee Elizabeth Strickland, and his granddaughter, Stacie Rebecca Strickland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Georgia Sheriff's Youth Homes, P. O. Box 1000, Stockbridge, GA 30281. Claude A.
