Newnan

Thomas "Kevin" Kitchens, 58, of Newnan, Georgia, passed away on June 30, 2026.

Born on April 14, 1968, Kevin spent his early years in Meriwether County before moving to Hogansville as a teenager. He worked for Sears for many years until health challenges led him into early retirement. A lifelong learner, Kevin believed it was never too late to continue his education. He earned an associate’s degree from Atlanta Technical College with certificates in graphic design, advertising layout, photography, and design and media production, a reflection of his determination and love of learning.

He had a heart for people and a personality that made everyone feel like a friend. Photography was one of his greatest passions, and he was rarely without a camera, capturing family gatherings, taking photos of friends, and preserving the moments that meant the most.

Kevin never met a stranger. At his apartment community, he became affectionately known as "The Mayor" because he knew everyone and was always looking for ways to help. If you stopped by to see him, there was a good chance you'd end up in a great conversation, especially if the topic turned to politics. His warm smile, easygoing nature, and genuine interest in others made people feel right at home.

More than anything, Kevin loved his family and close friends. He treasured every opportunity to spend time together and never missed a chance to make memories with the people he loved. His generous spirit, caring heart, and unwavering love for others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Kevin was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Jewel Argroves, and Manus Kitchens; Henry and Margaret Cupp.

He leaves behind his parents, Mack and Carol Kitchens; his sister, Kim Wilson; his brother, Mark (Lee Ann) Kitchens; his nieces and nephews, Kristen (Justin) Hendrix, Brittiny (Don) Johnson, Jared (Kate) Barber, Katie (John) Trapp, Caleb (Jennifer) Barber, and Kelsey (Allen) Epperson; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Jake, Annie, Taylor, Austyn, Caroline, Peyton, Cami, Kinleigh (Trey, Beau, Barrett), Lola, Parker, Baker, Brooks, Caston, Delaney, Wells and Alice; and his special friends, Judy Warner and Janice Dearing.

Kevin will be remembered for his kind heart and the way he genuinely cared about people. He found joy in helping others, capturing life's special moments through his camera, and spending time with family and friends. He will be deeply missed, but the memories he created and the love he shared will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 7, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Neil Stich will officiate and interment will be in the Greenville Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, prior to the service.
