MR. THOMAS E. AVERY, JR.
Mr. Thomas Eugene Avery, Jr., 80, of Newnan, died Sunday, August 18, 2013, at Wellstar Windy Hill Hospital in Marietta.
Born April 3, 1933, in Bartow County, Mr. Avery was the son of the late Thomas and Nellie Brown Avery. He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1953 until 1956, was employed as a sales representative for Wade Ford, and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church near Grantville.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Avery of Newnan; daughter, Cathy Baxter of Woodstock; son, Tommy Avery of Savannah; grandchildren, Nikki Baxter Hughes of Savannah and Mandy Avery Salisbury of Woodstock; great-grandchildren, Joshua Oliver Hughes and Ivy Marie Salisbury; step-daughter, Amber Wheeler Bacon of Surfside, SC; step-son, Michael Phillips of Marietta; and step-grandchildren, Hawkins Bacon and Reynold Bacon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Faith Alstott.
The family will host a memorial service at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, August 24, at Bethlehem Baptist Church, with Pastor Jimmy Evans officiating.
