Thelma Sue Hannah Trammell

Sue Trammell, 77, of Moreland, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital surrounded by family. Mrs. Trammell was born June 29, 1942, in Heard County, daughter of the late Thelma Ina Scroggin Hannah and Dillard Emmett Hannah. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Charles Wayne Trammell of Moreland; her brother Selby Emmett Hannah and his best friend, Dianne Hood of Wilmington, NC; sons, Wesley Wayne Trammell and his wife, Leigh of Moreland, Mark Scott Trammell and his wife, Mary of Atlanta; grandchildren, Dalton Trammell, Jake Trammell and Camden Trammell of Moreland, and Rosemarie Trammell and George Trammell of Atlanta. Sue grew up in Glenloch and Woodbury, and she and her husband Wayne lived in Atlanta for several years before moving to his family's area of Moreland/Luthersville where they resided since 1968. She retired in 2006 after 23 years of teaching. A most conscientious and caring person, while teaching, she worked with staff development, led extra-curricular activities, and was honored as Teacher of the Year several times. She taught business and information technology at Callaway High School, and previously taught at Hogansville High School and Dykes High School (n/k/a Sutton Middle School) in Atlanta. She graduated from Meriwether County High School in Woodbury in 1960, then enrolled at University of West Georgia, later transferring to Georgia State University where she earned a bachelor's degree in 1965. She later earned a master's degree (1989) and education specialist degree (1991) from University of West Georgia while teaching full time. Besides education, her passions included her love of family and grandchildren, hosting large home-cooked Sunday dinners for all able to attend, showing love and kindness and appreciation to others, and her faith. She was a devoted caregiver to numerous family members over the years. She was active in Luthersville Baptist Church most of her adult life and New Hope Baptist in recent years. The funeral service will be conducted Sunday, January 19th at 2:30 pm, at Luthersville United Methodist Church with Reverend Winston Skinner officiating. Interment will follow at the adjacent Luthersville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 pm January 18th. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Luthersville Cemetery Fund, c/o SouthCrest Bank, P. O. Box 237, Luthersville, GA 30251 or to a favorite charity. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
