MRS. SYLVIA BARRETT Mrs. Sylvia Yates Barrett, 73, of Hogansville, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 19, at First United Methodist Church of Hogansville. The Reverend Richard Campbell, the Reverend Carol Cook, and the Reverend Sheila Crowe will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Friday night. Mrs. Barrett was born February 22, 1938, in Hogansville, daughter of the late Aubrey and Vivian Combs Yates. A lifelong resident of Hogansville, she was a graduate of West Georgia Technical College, was a private duty licensed practical nurse, and had served as a foster parent. She was a former member of the Hogansville School Board, was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hogansville and a former president of the United Methodist Women She was the wife of the late Whitley Barrett, Jr. Survivors include her sons and daughters in-law, Joseph and Lorraine Barrett, David and Robin Barrett, all of Hogansville; daughters and son in-law, Janetha and Woody Caswell of Hogansville, Meadow Tucker of LaGrange; sisters, Charlotte Marshall of Hogansville and Caroline Abercrombie of Newnan; her fiance, Wyatt Harcrow of Leesburg; sixteen grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Nicholas David Barrett. Flowers are appreciated, or contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 333, Hogansville, GA 30230.
