Mrs. Gaddy was born July 31, 1933, in Heard county, daughter of the late Lonnie and Louise Bolt Strickland. A resident of Hogansville for 70 years, she retired as a lab technician from Playtex International in Newnan after 40 years service. She was a sweet, sweet lady who lived her life in service to others. A very generous person, she gave the gifts of time, love and kindness to all those she knew and met. She served as Sunday School teacher and treasurer; treasurer of the Happy 60's Club; director of Women's Missionary Union; advisor to the Young Women's Auxiliary and the Girl's Auxiliary; Cub Scout Den Leader; and member of the First Baptist Keenagers. An active member of Franklin Road Baptist Church in Newnan, Mrs. Gaddy was a past president and faithful member of the Hogansville Pilot Club, and her favorite project was her sunshine ministry to the elderly, shut-ins, and nursing home confined. She is remembered as a woman of strength, courage, commitment and loyalty, but most of all, love. Her sweet smile will be missed in our world, but her arrival in Heaven is celebrated.
She leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her life, her
daughter, Lois Gaddy Witter Spence of Hogansville; two grandchildren, Rick and Lisa Witter of Newnan and Cherie and Michael Mills of Hogansville; three great-grandchildren, Dylan Witter, Justin Mills, and Starr Mills; sister and brother in-law. Wylene and William Herndon of LaGrange; brother, Henry Strickland of Hogansville; a number of nieces and nephews; and many friends and Christian brothers and sisters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph L. Gaddy; son, Wade L. Gaddy; sisters, Sara Bugg and Irene Johnson; and brother, Randall Strickland.
