Sherri Dene Jones Cruz

Mrs. Sherri Jones Cruz, 56, of Oakland, CA, passed away Monday, December 12, 2016, at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, FL. Sherri was born July 10, 1960, in Atlanta, and was raised in Meriwether County. She had lived in California for a number of years and was employed as a medical transcriptionist for Kaiser Permanente. Survivors include her husband, Manuel Cruz of Oakland, CA; her mother, Patty Calhoun of Luthersville; father, Milton Jones and his wife, Vickie of Sharpsburg; sister, Amanda and Billy (Tinkie) Pate of Greenville; and brother, William Thomas Calhoun, Jr. and Connie Domangue of Moreland. She was preceded in death by her step-father, William Thomas Calhoun. A memorial service will be conducted at 5:00 p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2017, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Benny Coker will officiate and interment will be in the Luthersville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 until 5 prior to the memorial service. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
