Sherman Yarbrough

December 19, 1946 — June 26, 2024

Mr. Sherman Yarbrough, 77, of Panama City Beach, FL, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.

Sherman was born December 19, 1946, in Yellow Dirt, GA in Heard County, son of the late Lewis Quillian Yarbrough and Hazel Hannah Yarbrough. A graduate of Hogansville High School Class of 1965, he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business from West Georgia College in Carrollton.

Sherman was a man of many talents and millions of dreams. His mind was always working on his next great adventure or acquisition!!! He saw the potential in everything and everybody. He's washed trucks, worked in a car manufacturing facility, and owned his own insurance agency. He has traveled the country selling adjustable beds and then sunrooms. He has sold guns and built homes, owned nightclubs, bars, and an oyster restaurant; also owned a cultured marble and then a granite countertop business. And of course… lover of old cars and antiques.

Many an individual he has helped to get a new start in life or career. If you were willing to work and learn, he took you on… no matter if you were on probation or didn't even have a ride. He got you going. If you figured out the business and wanted to branch out on your own – he helped you get your new business off the ground, offering tools and advice.

Sherman had such a love of life, never met a stranger, devoted to family and friends, little boy charm and southern gentleman all rolled into one. And the stories he would tell… you could listen for hours. Sometimes you had to, once he got going. But they were all true with very little exaggeration. What a rich and varied life he had. He touched so many lives and will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Lynn Anderson Yarbrough of Panama City Beach; sons, Brent Yarbrough and his wife Sunshine, and Eric Yarbrough, all of Carrollton; grandchildren, Hattie, Emma, Camp and Norah Yarbrough and Jonah and Noah Thomas; his great-grandson, Archer; and step-brothers, Tony Johnson and his wife Donna, and Lamar Johnson, all of Hogansville, and Ronnie Johnson of Panama City Beach; In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his daughter in-law, Keya Yarbrough; and his step-mother, Ruth Yarbrough.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 29, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Scott Hannah will officiate, and interment will be in Carroll Memory Gardens in Carrollton, next to his mother and father.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Saturday, prior to the service.
