Seba Ann Perkins Lanier

Mrs. Seba Ann Perkins Lanier, 83, of LaGrange, passed away Friday, February 24, 2023, at her home.

Mrs. Lanier was born September 29, 1939, in Hogansville, daughter of the late Willie Fowler Perkins and Cecil Johnson Perkins. A lifelong member of Pleasant Grove Community Church, she was a proud 1957 graduate of Troup High School, earned her Bachelors degree at LaGrange College, and earned her Masters and Education Specialist degrees at Valdosta State University. She retired after serving as a fourth grade teacher and as Director of Special Education for the Lowndes County School System.

Survivors include her son, Raymond Alvin Lanier and his wife Donna Mae Lanier; daughter, Donna Lanier Stallings and her husband Roy Stallings; grandchildren, Anna Stallings and her fiance Jonathan Peng, and Brandon Stallings, all of LaGrange; sister, Sue Thompson of LaGrange; brothers and sister in-law, Clinton and Carolyn Perkins of LaGrange, and Buck Perkins of Hogansville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, William R. "Bill" Perkins and Harwell Lee Perkins.

Mrs. Seba loved to cook for her family and friends, and one would always leave her home with a bag of her peanut butter cookies. She enjoyed watching the native birds at one of her many feeders, caring for her "stray" cats, and tending to her backyard garden. She was a devoted friend, a loving mother, and a doting grandmother.

The funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, February 26, at Pleasant Grove Community Church in LaGrange. The Reverend Chad Hill and the Reverend Steve Evans will officiate and interment will be in Meadoway Gardens Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Saturday.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Grove Community Church, to Troup High School Alumni Association, or to Troop 3, Boy Scouts of America.
