Mrs. Sarah Vineyard Portwood, 95, of LaGrange, GA, passed away Saturday, November 8, 2025, in her home.
Mrs. Portwood was born December 22, 1929, in Roanoke, Alabama, daughter of the late Leonard Franklin Vineyard and Lurline Smith Vineyard. A resident of Troup County most of her life, she retired from Mansour's in LaGrange after 40 years of service and was a member of LaGrange Pentecostal Holiness Church. She loved visiting and talking to people and was known as a prayer warrior and a woman of God.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Kelli and John Hurn of Collinsville, IL, James Portwood of LaGrange, Allen and Michelle Portwood of Okinawa, Japan; and great-grandchildren, Eliza Hurn, Aayla Hurn, Luke Hurn, and Elora Hurn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis F. Portwood, Jr.; daughter, Lib Portwood; son Lex F. Portwood; daughter in-law, Vickie Portwood; sisters, Etta Bennett and Mary Fulcher; and brother, James Vineyard.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 15, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Pastor Leonard Hodge and Pastor Conrad DeFriese will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Saturday, prior to the service.
