Mrs. Sarah Askew, 73, of Gaylesville, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at her home. Mrs. Askew was born August 29, 1944, in Troup County, daughter of the late Homer Nathan Ball and Frances Turner Ball Meadows. A former resident of Luthersville, she had lived in Alabama for more than 20 years and was Baptist by faith. She was a homemaker and a loving grandmother. Survivors include her daughters and sons in-law, Carol and Jeff Sheppard of Gaylesville, AL, Rhonda and Kevin Holcomb of Piedmont, AL, Donna and Tommy Bennett of Newnan, Ashley and Cody Dawson of Gaylesville; sons and daughters in-law, Clay and Ellen Askew of Piedmont, Ronald Samuel Crain of Hogansville; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Welborn Askew. The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Friday, May 4, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 until 3 Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to assist with Mrs. Askew's medical expenses. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
