Sara Green Harman

Sara Elizabeth Green Harman was born February 14, 1922, in Randolph County near Woodland, Alabama, to Virgil Berry Green and Pearl Beddingfield Green. She was the only girl in a family of all boys until the birth of her half-sister. Sara was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Green, Wallace Green, Wilson Green, Harlice Green and Virgil Green and is survived by her half-sister, Bertha Green Wood of Macon. She was also preceded in death by her husband, H. M. Harman and her son in-law, Randall Allen and is survived by her daughters, Marice Allen of Mableton and Ouida Williams (Kenneth) of Athens; as well as her grandchildren, Brian Allen (Colleen) of Dover, New Hampshire, Amy LeBlanc (Ned) of Marietta, Keating McCarthy (David) of Chamblee and Scott Allen (Sally) of Lilburn; and her great-grandchildren, Brandon LeBlanc, Matthew Allen, Sarah LeBlanc Strickland (Michael), Ryan Allen, Owen Allen and Kylar McCarthy. Her grandson, Bennett Williams, preceded her in death. She has one living sister in-law, Mary Elizabeth Green of Newbern, North Carolina. In 1939, Sara married H. M. Harman, who died in 1985. Both were active in their beloved church, the Hogansville Church of Christ, and retired from Uniroyal. Sara was always a wonderful cook and loved to sew. She made clothing that she, her girls and grandchildren wore, and she was an accomplished quilt maker. Sara was active with the Homemakers Club and the Cemetery Committee and was loved for her warm personality and great sense of humor. She moved into assisted living at the age of 82 and passed away peacefully at the Presbyterian Village in Austell on May 8, 2019. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 18, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, followed by interment in Myrtle Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 until 11 Saturday morning. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Caring Hands of Presbyterian Village Austell, 2000 East-West Connector, Austell, GA 30106; or to Community Foundation of West Georgia, Will Garrett Memorial Fund, 807 South Park St., Carrollton, GA 30117. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
