MRS. SARA F. BURDEN Mrs. Sara Fitzpatrick Burden, of Newnan and formerly of Hogansville, died Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Wesley Woods of Newnan/Peachtree City. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 22, at the cryptside in Westview Abbey at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta. The Reverend Sharon Edgar will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Tuesday. Mrs. Burden was born November 29, 1919, in Austell, daughter of the late Wesley Harris Fitzpatrick and the late Ruth Cureton Fitzpatrick. A resident of Wesley Woods for the past twelve years, she lived in Hogansville most of her life and was a retired administrative assistant to the legislative budget director for the State of Georgia. Mrs. Burden had been an active Girl Scout leader and had served as an exchange leader for Girl Scouts in England. Survivors include her daughter, Sara Burden Strain of Conyers; sons, Claude S. Burden, III and his wife Diana of Mineral Bluff, Charles E. Burden and his wife, Diane of Pensacola, FL; sister, Ann Strickland of Austell; brother, Wesley Harris Fitzpatrick, Jr. of Crystal Springs, MS; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude S. Burden, Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements. Visitation: from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 22nd, at Claude A.
