Mrs. Sandra Spradlin Bass, 70, of Ellerslie, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at the home of her son in Hamilton.
Mrs. Bass was born October 10, 1953, in LaGrange, daughter of the late Ira and Adelia Fuller Spradlin. She grew up on a dairy farm in Odessadale, GA, where she enjoyed tending to the dairy cows, hunting quail with her father, and fishing in the pond. A resident of Meriwether and Harris counties most of her life, she earned a Specialist degree in education and retired after thirty years serving as an elementary school teacher in the Meriwether and Macon County School Systems.
Sandra was most recently a member of Bethesda Baptist Church in Ellerslie. She served as a Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School leader, and had also served as a tutor to many of the children in the churches she had attended throughout the years. She had been a member of the Red Hat Society, but she especially loved supporting her grandchildren in their recitals and sports activities.
Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca Bass Van Pelt and her husband David Van Pelt of Shiloh; son, Brannon Bass of Hamilton; grandchildren, Ryder Bass, Paisley Bass, Claire Ann Van Pelt, and Charlie Jane Van Pelt; sister, Cecilia Davis of Cartersville; and brother Ira Spradlin, Jr. of Sharpsburg.
Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of Sandra's life to be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 22, at the home of Brannon Bass at 6670 LickSkillet Rd. in Hamilton. The Reverend Donnie McCoy will officiate.
