Samuel Ronald Crain, Jr., 59, of LaGrange, known by his family and friends as Bubba, passed away Sunday, July 25, 2021, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.
Bubba was born December 21, 1961 in Warm Springs, son of the late Samuel Ronald Crain and Sarah Ball Crain Askew. He was a master carpenter, was employed by Bobby Wilkie Roofing, and was a former volunteer firefighter for Meriwether County Fire Department.
Survivors include his daughters and sons in-law, Ashley and Cody Dawson of Gaylesville, AL, Courtney and Cory Forehand of Rockmart; sons and daughters in-law, Michael Cook of Newnan, James and Hannah Johnson of Hogansville, Chris Phelan and Constance Nicole Haskins of Farner, TN, Jonathan and Destinie Cook of LaGrange, Matthew Cook and Jennifer McDonald of Mineral Bluff, Dalton Cook of Newnan, Daniel Keith also of Newnan; 19 grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Tanya Bradley, Donna Bennett, Rhonda Holcomb, Sam Crain, Carol Sheppard, Craig Askew; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Jack Welborn (JW) Askew, and his brother, Clay Askew.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 2, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Jody Mitchell will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Monday.
