Ruth Meacham Shepherd

Mrs. Ruth Meacham Shepherd, 75, of Greenville, passed away Thursday, December 7, 2017, at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta. Mrs. Shepherd was born December 20, 1941, in Coweta County, daughter of the late Harold Lloyd Meacham and Dorothy Slaton Meacham. A resident of Coweta and Meriwether counties most of her life, she was Baptist by faith, enjoyed gardening and playing the guitar, and most of all loved caring for her grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca Collins of LaGrange; sister, Shirley O'Neal of Luthersville; brothers, Daniel Meacham of Franklin, J. L. Meacham of Newnan; grandchildren, Dee Shepherd, Christopher Shepherd, Amanda Shepherd, Austin Collins, Cody Collins, Michaela Collins; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Shepherd; daughter, Wanda Gail Shepherd; sons, James Donald Shepherd, Charles L. (Chuck) Shepherd, Jr.; and great-great-grandson, Weston Johnson. The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, December 9, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Bryan Calhoun will officiate and interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Friday night. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
