Mrs. Ruth Nelson Martin, 94 of Hogansville, passed away, Sunday October 10, 2021 at Florence Hand Home.
Born December 24, 1926 in Troup County, Mrs. Martin was the daughter of the late Alfred Neal Nelson and Lois Turner Nelson. She was a lifelong resident of Hogansville, was very active with the Hogansville Senior Center, and was a lifelong member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, where she served as an Elder and was treasurer of the Presbyterian Women. Along with her husband and son, she owned and operated Super Foods in downtown Hogansville for 44 years and later retired from Rite Aid.
Survivors include her son and daughter in-law, Nelson and Joy Martin of LaGrange; grandchildren, Bradley and Katie Martin of Jefferson, Paula Lee of LaGrange, Brian and Misty Martin of Statham, Rachel and Roger Messerly and Dan and Mariana Martin, all of Hogansville; 14 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Maron "Red" Martin, and her brother, Francis Nelson.
The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 17, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Harrison Cain will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 until 3 Sunday afternoon.
