Russell Eugene Lawson

MR. RUSSELL E. LAWSON Mr. Russell E. Lawson, 55, of West Point, died Sunday, January 2, 2011, at West Georgia Medical Center. Mr. Lawson was born July 16, 1955, in Atlanta, son of the late Esther Smith Mathis Lawson and the late William Lanier Mathis, and was raised by his adoptive father, Richard Lawson. An Air Force veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, he was Baptist by faith, had been employed at PetsMart Distribution Center in Newnan, and had lived in Troup County most of his life. Survivors include his wife, Melanie Orrick Lawson of West Point; one son, Rusty Lawson of Savannah; his father, Richard Lawson of England; and one brother, Michael Lawson of Waynesboro, VA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Tuesday evening. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
