Mr. Rufus Fowler "Buck" Perkins, 86, of Hogansville, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2023, at Hospice LaGrange.
Mr. Perkins was born October 24, 1936, in Troup County, son of the late Willie Fowler Perkins and Cecil Johnson Perkins. A veteran of eight years of service in the U.S. Air Force, he retired as a computer specialist in 1988 from the U.S. Department of Labor. He lived in the Washington, D.C. area for many years before making his home in Heard County in 1983, was a member and treasurer of Corinth United Methodist Church, and was a member of Union Lodge 28 F. & A.M. in LaGrange.
Survivors include his son, Keith Perkins and Carolyn Prince of Hogansville; sister, Sue Thompson of LaGrange; brother and sister in-law, Clinton and Carolyn Perkins of LaGrange; grandchildren, William Perkins, Russell Perkins, Reese Perkins, Reannon Hayes; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Betty L. Perkins; brothers, William R. "Bill" Perkins and Harwell Lee Perkins; and sister, Seba Ann Perkins Lanier.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June24, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, with the Reverend Mack Tidwell officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Saturday.
