BROTHER ROY SMITH
Brother Roy E. Smith, 72, of Grantville, died Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at Hospice LaGrange, surrounded by his family.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 10, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Randy Terrell and the Reverend Wayne Stewart will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville, with military honors.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 9 Thursday night.
Mr. Smith was born June 22, 1941, in Hogansville, son of the late Arthur Ernest Smith, Sr. and Ella Emery Smith. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he retired from the U. S. Air Force and then was employed as a home repair contractor. He was Baptist by faith, and organized and arranged Depot Singings in Grantville for thirteen years.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Smith of Grantville; daughters and sons in-law, Felicia and Tim Bridgette of Grantville, Jennifer and Steve Purser of Duluth; sons and daughters in-law, Shannon Smith, Brian and Amy Smith, all of Austin, TX, Alan and Jenna Smith of Dallas, TX, James and Amanda Smith of Newnan, Chad and Courtney Smith of Grantville; sister, Betty Galloway of Hogansville; and fifteen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Christina Smith.
Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
