Roy J. Burlew

Mr. Roy J. Burlew, 97, of Greenville, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2019, at Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville. Mr. Burlew was born October 1, 1922, in Bridgeton, NJ, son of the late Ervin Roy Burlew and Lillian Garvey Burlew. A veteran of service in the U. S. Merchant Marine during World War Two, he retired from Kerr Glass Company, had lived in Greenville since 1985, and was Lutheran by faith. Survivors include his daughters Barbara Cain and Mary DiMatteo, both of Lakeland, FL, Maudeen Vest of Winter Haven, FL, and Patricia Kessler of Greenville, GA; sons, Roy J. Burlew, Jr. of Bridgeton, NJ; sisters, Diane Smith of Dover, DE and Mary Puckett of Centerville, UT; twelve grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Elwood, of Bridgeton. The family will plan a memorial service to be held in New Jersey at a later time. Claude A.
