Rosa Beckom Purgason

Mrs. Rosa Beckom Purgason, 72, of Hogansville, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2015, at her home. Mrs. Purgason was born March 13, 1943, in Newnan, daughter of the late Grady and Ophelia Conner Beckom. A member of Corinth Baptist Church, she was a homemaker who had a great love for children and not only raised her own children, but also her grandchildren and others. She was the wife of the late Robert E. "Buddy" Purgason. Survivors include her daughter, Tonia Purgason of Hogansville; sister, Mattie Purgason, also of Hogansville; brother, Henry Beckom of Whitesburg; grandchildren, Alexis Rosanne Stewart, Jonathan Mitchell, Michael Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Heather Mitchell, Matthew Mitchell, Michael Mitchell, Jr.; and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral service was conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 31, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Marvin Purgason officiated and interment was in the Corinth Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to assist with the funeral expenses. The family would like to express appreciation to Affinis Hospice for the care provided to Mrs. Purgason. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
