Mr. Ronald “Ronnie” Johnson, 78, of Valley, AL, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2026, at LaGrange Trails Nursing Facility.

Mr. Johnson was born July 22, 1947, in Langdale, AL, son of the late Troy Willis Johnson and Thelma Bonner Johnson. A former resident of Hogansville, he lived in Valley most of his life and was a retired building contractor. He loved music and had sung with several quartets and musical groups and was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed drawing, woodworking, and classic cars.

Survivors include his sisters, Linda Matthews of Valley and Susan Chapman of Hogansville; sons, Chris Wheelus of Hogansville and Jonathan Johnson of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Carmen Caldwell (Hunter Caldwell) and Kristen Smith (Scott Smith, Jr.); great-grandchildren, Grady Caldwell, Miller Anne Caldwell, Merritt Smith, Hattie Smith; nieces, Candy Bonner (Keith Bonner), Tonya Thornhill, Angel Pope (Tracy Stephens), Heather Matthews; nephews, Scotty Chapman (Kristie Chapman), Dusty Chapman (Heather Chapman), Sam Hester (Dara Hester) and the late Mike Hester; and a host of great-nieces, and great-nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted at 4:30 p.m., Friday, May 15, in the Chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, with the Reverend Randall Hodge officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m., Friday, prior to the service.
