MR. ROBERT F. TILLMAN Mr. Robert F. Tillman, 92, of Hogansville and formerly of West Point, died Tuesday, November 18, 2008, at Florence Hand Home in LaGrange. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 22, at the graveside in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville, with the Reverend Clinton Hughes and Dr. Richard Gillespie officiating. Mr. Tillman was born September 10, 1916, in Carroll county, son of the late Benjamin and Sarah Raburn Tillman. A 1941 graduate of Georgia Tech, he served as a Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II, and was employed by West Point Pepperell from 1948 until his retirement in 1981, including 15 years at the Wellington Sears Division in New York. Mr. Tillman was a member of First Baptist Church of Hogansville and a former member of First Baptist Church of West Point, the West Point Lions Club, and Riverside Country Club. Survivors include his daughter, Eve McKibben and her husband, John, of Hogansville; son, Robert F. Tillman, Jr. and his wife, Anita, of Birmingham, AL; five grandchildren, Robert F. Tillman, III and his wife, Angel, Susan Moll and her husband, Jerrod, all of Birmingham, David McKibben and his wife, Suzi, of Hogansville, Patrick McKibben of LaGrange, and Sarah McKibben of Atlanta; and a great-granddaughter, Meredith Camille Moll. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Memmo Tillman. The Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
