Robert G. Manning, Jr.

Mr. Robert Greston Manning Jr., age 70, was born on October 24, 1955, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Mary Lee Brown and Robert Greston Manning.

At the young age of 17, Robert married the love of his life, Mrs. Linda Nell Manning. They were united in marriage for 52 years and shared a life filled with love, family, and cherished memories.

Robert was a man of many talents and a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was the kind of person who was always there when someone needed him. No matter the time of day or night, Robert was only a phone call away. He never allowed distance to keep him from helping those he loved.

Robert received a degree in mechanics from West Georgia Technical College. From there, he began building a business of his own, working diligently for more than 45 years. Through his hard work, determination, and many talents, he made a lasting impact on his family and community.

Robert was preceded in death by his loving wife Linda Nell Manning, both parents, Mary Lee Brown and Robert Greston Manning; his mother-in-law, Barbara Alice Daniel; and his brother, Tony Hasty.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory his daughter, Mary (Tyree) Jackson; his son, Robert (Bre Norris) Manning; his sisters, Elaine Henson and Barbara Jean Taylor; his brothers, James (Ann) Manning, Wayne (Karen) Manning, and Keith (Phyllis) Manning; twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.

The funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 19, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Apostle Mary Edwards will officiate and interment will be in Hillview East Cemetery in LaGrange.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 18.

Robert’s life was a blessing to all who knew and loved him. His kindness, dedication, hard work, and willingness to help others will never be forgotten. Though he is no longer with us, the love and memories he created will remain in the hearts of his family and friends forever.

Rest peacefully, Robert. Your work here is done, but your legacy of love lives on.
