CALVIN HIPP
CSM (ret.) Robert Calvin Hipp, 71, of Rabun Gap and a native of Hogansville, died Sunday, August 15, 2010, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 18, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home. Dr. David Davis will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville, with military honors.
Born January 10, 1939, in Hogansville, CSM Hipp was the son of the late Calvin and Winnie Cammon Hipp. He retired as Command Sergeant Major from the Georgia Army National Guard after 28 years of full-time service and was a member of Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church. He loved traveling and devoting time to his grandchildren, and served as a volunteer for Rabun County veterans groups providing transportation for veterans to VA hospitals.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Todd Hipp of Rabun Gap and also a native of Hogansville; daughter, Kristine Hipp Hammond and her husband, Cris, of Dacula; sons, Robert C. Hipp, Jr. and his wife, Lori, of Dunwoody, Jonathan Hipp and his wife, Mary, of Dahlonega; six grandchildren, Cari Hipp, Jacob Hipp, Nathaniel Hammond, Ava Hipp, Gracie Hipp and J. C. Hipp; and his mother in-law, Martha Todd of Tiger.
Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
