Mr. Robert "Bob" M. Washbish II, 81 of Hogansville, passed away February 7, 2024, in Gainesville, Florida.
Born July 9, 1942 in Miami, Florida, Bob was the son of the late Robert and Jeantte Alice Collis Washbish. He served in the Vietnam War as a Green Beret Medic Army Sergeant, where he earned several medals and certifications. After the Army, Bob worked for Eastern Airlines for 30 years, where he met and ended up marrying his wife Cheri, who was a Flight Attendant for Eastern. After Eastern Airlines, Bob worked as a Windermere Police Officer in Florida, was a Handyman, and a Reserve Officer for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and especially enjoyed gardening and planting his favorite flowers, roses.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Cheri; sister, Barbara Miller; nephew, Tim Miller, and his wife, Tonya; niece, Sue Lewis and her husband, Rick, all of Hogansville; great-nieces, Nicole Lewis of Newnan and Shannon Watson and her husband, Bobby, and their son, Waylon of Astor, FL; sisters in-law, Carol Manning, Caren Copeland, Constance Goldberg; and nephew Caven Hazelett, all from LaGrange.
A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, May 9, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, with the Reverend Jan Stewart Tolbert officiating. Enurnment will be Friday, May 10, at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery.
