Robert E. (Bob) Barber

ROBERT E. (BOB) BARBER Robert E. (Bob) Barber of Palm Bay, FL., formerly of Luthersville, died Thursday, February 13, 2014. Bob was born on July 4, 1937, to the late Andrew and Evelyn Barber of Luthersville. He married Delayne Wells and had three children. Bob was a 1955 graduate of Luthersville High School, attended Berry College and the Georgia Institute of Technology, and then began his career in highway construction. His later employment as a national sales manager with Koehring Corporation took him from Atlanta to Memphis, TN and then to Grafton, WI. He left Koehring in the 1970's to establish his own business, The Barber Company, which manufactured and sold earth-boring equipment. Bob moved back to Georgia where he met his current wife, Vera. After retirement he enjoyed boating and started a small vineyard in Luthersville, and in recent years he and Vera lived in Brazil and Aruba before moving to their current home in Palm Bay, FL. Bob is survived by his wife, Vera Peluso; son, Stan Barber and wife Janet of Sebastian, FL; daughter, Jan Ryms and husband Jaymz and their son Avery-Jorin of Tyrone; son, Marc Barber and wife Rejan of Sebastian, FL; sister, Carolyn Head and husband David of Fayetteville; niece, Gail Aydin of Lone Oak; nephews, Eddie Head of Minnesota, Thomas Head and wife Dawn of Newnan, and Andrew Head of Atlanta. Bob is predeceased by his parents and a brother, Ronald J. (Jack) Barber and his wife, Jean. A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 22, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansvillle, with interment to follow in the Luthersville Cemetery. The family will receive guests at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Luthersville Cemetery Fund, P. O. Box 270, Luthersville, GA 30251. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
