Rita Dean Powell

Mrs. Rita Dean Powell, 67 of Newnan, passed away Tuesday September 22, 2020 at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. Born June 30, 1953 in Newnan, Mrs. Powell was the daughter of the late Travis Slaton and Bessie Jo Moore Slaton. She was a lifelong resident of Newnan, enjoyed playing games, and was Baptist by faith. Survivors include her daughter, Kerrie Powell; son, Jamie Powell, both of Newnan; sisters, Judy Northup of Pensacola, FL and Deborah Couch of Luthersville; grandchildren, William Daniel, Jr., Jason Yearta, Devin Powell, Kevin Daniel, Vanity McLendon, Danielle Powell, and Amber Daniel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Daniel; brother, Archie Slaton; and sister, Cheryl Young. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 27, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville with Mrs. Ann (Slaton) Mills officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 until 2 Sunday afternoon. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
