Rita Jean Powell

MRS. RITA JEAN POWELL Mrs. Rita Jean Powell, 58, of LaGrange, died Saturday, December 6, 2008, at Hospice LaGrange. Mrs. Powell was born November 8, 1950, in Orange county, Florida, daughter of the late James William and Rita Elizabeth DuVall Witte. She lived in Columbus before making her home in LaGrange ten years ago and was a member of the Baptist faith. She is remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. Survivors include her husband, William L. (Bill) Powell; daughter, Angela Marie and Eggo Whitfield; son, James William and Tammy Powell, all of LaGrange; brothers, Robert Dennis Witte of Palm Bay, FL and Raymond DuVall Witte of Debray, FL; and grandchildren, Jeremy William Powell, James William Powell II, Jared Wrice Powell, Eris Queenie Marie Whitfield, and Lillian Naomi Jean Whitfield. The family will hold a memorial gathering and service at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice LaGrange or to a church of the donors choosing. The Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
