Mr. Ricky D. Carter, 62, of Hogansville, passed away Friday, May 8, 2020, at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center. Mr. Carter was born November 10, 1957, in LaGrange, son of the late Dean Carter and Shirley Moon Carter Smith, and was also preceded in death by his step-father, George Allen Smith. A lifelong resident of Troup County, he was employed as a truck driver for 44 years and recently retired from Venture Express. He was a member of Long Cane Baptist Church, was an avid fisherman, enjoyed woodworking and using his hands, and he loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Betty Carter of Hogansville; children, Stephanie Davis of Hogansville, Wayne and Cissy Carter of West Point, Kevin and Autumn Carter of LaGrange, Hannah and Lucas Harrington of Valley, AL, Amanda and Joseph Rainwater of Moreland; his sister, Deborah and William Allen of Hogansville; and three grandchildren, Shelbie Davis, Opal Rainwater and Josiah Rainwater. The funeral service will be conducted Monday, May 11, at the graveside in Long Cane Cemetery, with the Reverend Danny Geter officiating. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
